Each year, many people look to the Pantone Color Institute with anticipation, because colors reflect our collective longings. After Peach Fuzz (2024) and Mocha Mousse (2025), December brought a small sensation: with Cloud Dancer, a shade of white was named Color of the Year for the first time. It stands for clarity and new beginnings.
The internet, however, rebelled immediately. On Threads, Instagram, and X, thousands instead crowned Phthalo Green as the “true” color of 2026. This deep green—favored by the world-renowned Jackson Pollock—represents the counterpoint: where white invites stillness, this green demands presence and rootedness in nature. Seen this way, the two colors share something essential: both seek stability in a chaotic world.
This coexistence is perhaps the most honest expression of our complex society. There is no longer a simple “black or white,” no single truth handed down from above. From the perspective of a real estate service provider, this ambivalence is particularly fascinating—because a home should not follow trends, but reflect the people who live in it, whether in quiet white, powerful green, or entirely personal tones.
